In the MedsMatrix, a potential drug may be displayed with an icon that indicates "variable activity". This denotes that other factors, not detected via the molecular/PCR lab test, may potentially cause drug failure. For instance, while resistance may not have been detected, not all genes for a specific drug may have been tested for, other possible mechanisms of resistance may not be accounted for, or regional resistance may cause the drug's activity to be variable.
